518-Meter Tall Evergrande IFC in Hefei On Its Way Up

It’s not every day a skyscraper that is closer to a megatall than a supertall goes under construction but it seems we got a new one going up: the 518-meter tall Evergrande International Financial Center in Hefei. If you cannot pinpoint that city on a blind map, or the exact spot in Hefei, then no worries. Being the first skyscraper and tallest landmark in Anhui province, next to enhancing the image of the city, Evergrande IFC aims to increase the land value of Binhu district and facilitate the city’s development.

British design and consultancy company Atkins did the architectural conceptual design. According to project design director KY Cheung, the design concept was inspired by bamboo, which according to Chinese culture, represents prosperity and elegance.

To the right of the main tower are four shorter towers that resemble a bamboo grove, adding unique characteristics to the city’s emerging skyline. With a total gross floor area (GFA) of 660,000 sqm, the high-rise commercial and residential complex comprises a five-star hotel, luxury serviced apartments, grade-A offices and a large integrated shopping mall to provide high-end entertainment and high-end lifestyle experience for visitors and residents. Located on a prime modern lakeside development, the site enjoys a beautiful natural view of Chao Lake and convenient access to public transportation.
