It’s not every day a skyscraper that is closer to a megatall than a supertall goes under construction but it seems we got a new one going up: the 518-meter tall Evergrande International Financial Center in Hefei. If you cannot pinpoint that city on a blind map, or the exact spot in Hefei, then no worries. Being the first skyscraper and tallest landmark in Anhui province, next to enhancing the image of the city, Evergrande IFC aims to increase the land value of Binhu district and facilitate the city’s development.
British design and consultancy company Atkins did the architectural conceptual design. According to project design director KY Cheung, the design concept was inspired by bamboo, which according to Chinese culture, represents prosperity and elegance.
