Greetings from Detroit!

Greetings from Detroit!

The other day, the Mail Online published a series of aerial shots about what has become of Detroit: “Skyscrapers give way to scrubland, farms and countryside”. As much as Detroit is the pin up city of decline, urban ruins and deterioration, it once was the 4th city in the United States and car factories where happily humming.

In those days, people would send postcards to friends and family, and sometimes these postcards came in small booklets containing a foldout with a panorama image of the city, along with photographs and drawings of the skyline and places of interest on the other side. I bumped into one of these from the 1930’s when cleaning up a closet, and it’s a great reminder of a city that once was.
