New Project: La Tour des Cèdres | Lausanne | 117 meter (Yes It Looks Familiar)

With the completion of the Bosco Verticale, architect Stefano Boeri established starchitect status. The good news is that now you are famous. The bad news is that you might become a subject of what the movie industry calls typecasting.

Boeri’s next project involved a bit more then a commissioner asking for ‘something like you did in Milan’ as it was the result of a competition for a resiscraper in the Swiss municipality Chavannes-Près-Renens, just west of Lausanne.

The trendy tower is named the La Tour des Cèdres (The Cedar Tower) and will have 35 floors of apartments measuring 117 meters. As such the proposed tower is to become the tallest in Western Switzerland. Visible to the outside, 100 cedar trees will be planted on the balconies while the exterior will be draped in shrubs and plants. Offices and shops are planned at street level, while the top will have a panoramic restaurant.

Completion is scheduled for 2017.
